Brask’s paintings in musical performance in Newport

On a chilly Sunday afternoon in a tiny and historic chapel in Newport RI, art and music came together as Rachel Brask’s oil paintings joined a classical musical performance “From Salon to Tango”, organized by folks behind the Puddingstone Music. Selections for flute and harp by of Bach, Persichetti, Chopin, and Mozart,, and Piazzolla were performed center stage, with Brask’s oil paintings of rainy days surrounding the stage. At one point in the performance, the afternoon sunlight moved the light across an orange painting in the most perfect way, so as to align with the light elements in the painting.

During a pause in the middle of the program, Brask gave a brief talk and presentation about her artwork, her inspiration, and her process.
